CMGC Information

The Clackamette Mineral and Gem Club in Oregon City, Oregon welcomes you to an exciting hobby.

Our club members enjoy collecting rocks, minerals, and fossil materials.

The cutting, tumbling, polishing and faceting of various materials, whether gathered or purchased, is thoroughly fascinating. Members are encouraged to learn from each other, and we have a small library available, too.

CMGC was established in 1963 and continues to promote interest in the lapidary hobby through collecting gems, education, sharing and presentation of our annual Rock and Gem Show. The show this year (2008) is on October  25 and 26 at the Clackamas County Fairgrounds, in Canby, Oregon. Be sure to set this weekend aside and join us there!

We have several membership levels available: Family, Single, Junior, and News Letter Subscription only at $15, $12, $5, and $10 respectively. Dues are due on the last day of December and are pro-rated throughout the year. We also accept articles for our monthly newsletter, so any of you budding young writers, or old writers for all that out there feel free to cook up an interesting tidbit about rocks. If it gets published, I'm sure we'll all appreciate it.

Rock Collecting in Oregon and Southern Washington

Continues to be a fun and rewarding hobby. When you come and visit, ask some of the folks about our trip up to SW Washington where we collected crystals, carnelian, and jasper, or when we went to Norhtern California and collected various obsidians. Trips like these are fun as well as rewarding.
