June 20-22: NFMS Show (Ontario, OR)
Daily field trips each morning and evening during the show.
July 2-6: Madras; Madras Pow-Wow
During the Show, there will be daily field trips to the Ashwood area ranchers.
Club will go to the Lily Pad Rhyolite site on July 4th.
Will meet at the main gate and leave the Fairgrounds 7:00 am.
The Madras Pow Wow has their caravan at the parking lot, so don't
follow the wrong vehicles. Make sure you meet the CMGC members
at the gate. You will need chisels hammers and tools for hard rock mining
if you want the good solid material. And if your vehicle don't have high
clearance, you may need to join some other members.
It can become very hot, make sure you bring lots of water!
August: Open
September 6-14: Davis and Lassen Creek (CA, near Lakeview, OR); Obsidian.
We will collect Purple, Electric Blue, Pink, Needles, Rainbow obsidian.
We will dry camp at the mine, but if you wish to commute to the site, there are
several motels in Lakeview about 30 to 35 miles from the site.
You must have a permit, which could be picked up at the local store in Davis
Creek (Leader will have some ready at the site).
You will need basic rock hounding tools as chisels, hammers, bars and
others, but our members will have extra tools, so even if you do not have
tools, do not worry and come to have fun!
October 25-26: Our show at the Clackamas County Fairgrounds
November: Open
December18: Christmas dinner and gift exchange
